Public service, rooted in community.
Biography and the work that shapes Hon. Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui's approach to leadership.
Hon. Gizella Akushika Tetteh-Agbotui is a Ghanaian architect, politician, and community leader. Born on 30 November 1970 in Awutu Obrachire in Ghana's Central Region, she serves as Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West and Deputy Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources in the 9th Parliament of Ghana.
She was educated at Wesley Girls' High School in Cape Coast and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Design and a Postgraduate Diploma in Architecture. She is an Associate of the Ghana Institute of Architects, holds an MBA in Marketing from the University of Ghana Business School, is a Certified Project Management Professional, and an International Airport Professional.
Before entering full-time politics, she was CEO and Principal Consultant of Zella Architects. That background shapes her work in Parliament and at the Ministry, where infrastructure is understood not only as policy language but as something families live inside every day.
In Awutu Senya West, her annual tertiary scholarship programme has supported more than 400 students since it began in 2021, with mentoring under the theme Educate, Empower and Progress. She has also sponsored the GTA Licensing Project, which helped more than 200 unlicensed drivers and motor riders obtain licences through a subsidised training programme.
She was re-elected in December 2024, becoming the first MP in the constituency to break the long-standing one-term pattern. Hon. Tetteh-Agbotui is a Methodist Christian, married to Mr. Selorm Agbotui, and the mother of two daughters, Arlene and Annalise. She is the sister of Hanna Serwaa Tetteh, former Member of Parliament for the same constituency and Ghana's Minister for Foreign Affairs.
